iStock_000009461959XSmallWhen was the last time you truly LOOKED at your surroundings? I don’t mean glancing around as you commute to work. I mean, stopping to pause and SEE the things around you and your environment.

If  you do, you might be surprised just how much design inspiration you’re missing. Whether you live in the city or the country or have the best of both worlds (like living in Oklahoma) your designs can be inspired by the landscapes and skylines that surround you. Now, that isn’t to say that you’re next design will be a hillside of cattle but, have you ever just sat back and taken in the colors that are naturally in such settings?
Some of my best and most creative color palettes come from scenes in nature and things that I see on a daily basis. Don’t let another inspiring scene pass you by. Reach out and make it the foundation for your next great design piece!

Hi Ms JP. I know that business cards are important to networking, even to college students. However, if we are students, then we don’t have a company. What do you suggest we write aside to replace the “company” line? That we are a student?

Also, for students, would you recommend making business cards through the university with their logo and branding (coz many universities do that for students for a fee) or to less expensive ones online?

As far as the price goes, you can find great printing at OverNightPrints.com. Personally, I think students with business cards with their university’s branding on them is weird.

Even if you have no company or brand information you can still make a basic “contact” card that will provide the correct information for those that are professional and sufficient for your needs.

As a matter of fact, keep an eye out and I’ll do a post about that soon.

Sounds good! That would be great. I actually agree with what you said about students with university business cards. I’ve found people online that think it’s a good idea, so reading what you said helped.

For the post, design and distribution help is greatly appreciated. I’m not a designer, so I’m lost in that part. I’m sure I’m not the only student thinking about this, so thanks a lot!
